What happens on the day of your ceremony

Arrival times

The groom should be at the venue and ready to see the registrars at least 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Guests should arrive at a similar time. The bride should have arrived and be ready to see the registrars at least 10 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

The registrars need to complete essential legal preliminaries with both parties before they can start the ceremony. These can be completed together or separately, if not seeing each other before the ceremony. The registrar checks the information to be recorded in the marriage register. If any of your details have changed since you completed your legal preliminaries they can be changed before the ceremony.

Do not be late.

Your ceremony should start promptly. We reserve the right to delay or restrict the ceremony if we feel timings of any other ceremonies that day will be compromised. Be assured this type of decision is never taken lightly, we consult with you and the venue first.
